Horizons Project
Horizons is the dedicated innovation support project in Liverpool City Region (LCR), bringing together collective knowledge and expertise at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), University of Liverpool (UoL) and Edge Hill University to develop solutions to the challenges facing 21st Century SMEs.
The team of experts focus on improving competitiveness and productivity that fosters innovation and economic growth through practical, hands-on assistance in a timely manner. Since 2016, the partnership has supported over 750 SMEs in LCR, with independent summative assessments indicating an increase of £197mn GVA and creation of over 3,000 jobs.
Funded by the Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), they are at the forefront of creating transformational opportunities for people, business and communities across our region. They know innovation can make a big difference, and have open opportunities for a select number of local SMEs to accelerate their progress and future proof success. Support is at no financial cost to SMEs as it is covered by de minimis state aid regulations.
Horizons is an industry demand led project and provides direct support to address challenges increasing capability and capacity through:
- Innovation Solutions: Dedicated, bespoke, timely innovation support
- Technical Support: Engineering, design, testing and prototype development
- Equipment Access: Demonstrations, workshops and laboratories
- Knowledge Base: Facilities, expertise, knowledge and collaboration
- Funding/Investment: Support for access to finance to unlock potential
