About this event

Learn how social media platforms operate and how they can work to your best advantage.

Split into 3 sessions this free* face-to-face workshop will show how social media can help you reach and engage with your target audience to help generate interest and sales. (*see below for eligibility criteria)

Session 1 (45 mins)

You will gain an understanding of the different platforms and discover what they are trying to achieve. Find out how to target your audience and establish how to rank, be found and shared on the main social media channels.

This session will help demystify how social media platforms work and how you can play to the algorithms using Instagram, Tik Tok, Snapchat and more. You will find out what their aims are and how they try to improve the user experience. This will lead to a better understanding of how to choose the right channel for your audience and engage with them.

Session 2 (30 Mins)

Having established which channel/s are right for you, you will be able to explore which keywords and themes are popular on these channels and what has proven engagement in the past. Furthermore, you can refine those keywords and themes into specific hashtags. By doing this you will start getting noticed by the channels and they will know what they should start ranking you for.

Session 3 (30 mins)

You will learn how to create content that engages and connects with your audience. Once discovered by your audience you will learn how to keep this attention up by creating relevant content using stories, short form videos and micro content. Finding the right balance between marketing and sales content will help you create a marketing funnel that will ultimately generate sales.

Q&A (30 mins)

Key takeaways

Session 1 – can create quick personas mapping their audience to channels

Session 2 -can create ideas on keyword / themes and map those to hashtags

Session 3- can create quick funnel for each to give them an idea what content is necessary at what point

The workshop will be delivered by Mark Russell: Mark has over 6 years experience helping local, national and international businesses with digital marketing and specifically social media.

He started the Social Media Meetup in 2017, a local meetup that brought on experts from across the region and UK to share what works with social media. This is largely where Mark learned a lot about what works on social media and tested this out with clients he has worked with over the years.

This workshop will be a collection of all that knowledge condensed down into actionable takeaways to help you get up and running on social media.
