19/08/2021- UK-India FTA Roundtable

Calling all existing or aspirational exporters to India…

The UK and India have recently committed to an Enhanced Trade Partnership as part of a 10-year Roadmap that includes the ambition and intent to double trade and negotiate a UK-India FTA. The Department for International Trade is already acting upon the partnership by launching its business consultation for pre-FTA discussions.

The UKIBC is delighted to support DIT and the Indian Government to support the bilateral relationship and strengthen trade and investment. We are delighted because that means sharing and advocating the views of our members and clients.

To do that, we will be running roundtables for our members and close clients. The next roundtable is planned for Thursday 26 August at 2pm. In the session, we will be joined by DIT officials who will be able to provide an update on their activities towards the FTA negotiations and ETP, and Ben Flanagan, Head of International Trade at Growth Platform and colleagues from UKIBC will coordinate the session and subsequently gather your views into a formal submission.

In the meantime, DIT has launched its survey seeking input on which aspects of our current trading arrangements with India we should look to improve or amend – please do complete the survey here which also includes further information on the consultation process.

We look forward to working with you in what is an exciting period for the bilateral relationship to grow UK-India trade and investment.

Once registered Adrian will send you the pre-consultation guiding questions.
