COVID-19 support package for business announced In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Growth Platform have compiled a suite of resources and support for businesses and employers in Liverpool City Region who may be affected.   Advice and Guidance for small businesses and Federation of Small Businesses and the self-employed     The Chancellor has announced a £330 billion package of support measures to ensure the impact of COVID-19 on business is minimised. The measures are in addition to those announced in the Budget and include: UK-wide A local authority cash grant of £10,000 for businesses that are currently eligible for Small Business Rate Relief or Rural Rate Relief, to help meet their ongoing business costs. Grants of £25,000 to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses operating from smaller premises with a rateable value over £15,000 and below £51,000. Budget 2020

Following this week’s budget announcement, the Government has announced changes that may affect some Business Rate payers: Small businesses in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief will be eligible for a grant of £3000 Businesses eligible for Retail Discount will received 100% discount for one year from 1st April 2020. Pub Relief will be increased to up to £5000 for one year from 1st April 2020 The Government has not yet provided the detail of the proposed changes to local Councils and so Sefton Council is not yet able to confirm who is eligible and when the new discounts can be applied. InvestSefton will liaise closely with Sefton Council’s Business Rates team and as soon as more information is available the Council’s website will be updated.
