Rural Economy - In Sefton there are 75 farms, the largest group of which is horticultural. Half the farms in Sefton are less than 20 hectares. The rural economy is identified as being in need of very specific and specialist support and as part of a wider Merseyside initiative (Rural Economy Action Plan - REAP) a vision for the region's rural areas has been developed and opportunities identified for economic diversification, development and enterprise.
