New Health & Safety HQ in Bootle

A major initiative to ensure business and residents in sefton benefit from hundreds of millions of pounds worth of construction work has been unveiled.
More than 100 people attended the official launch of the Build Sefton at Aintree Racecourse, part of the wider Invest Sefton marketing drive to attract investment and jobs to the borough.

Build Sefton - funded by South Sefton Partnership, Sefton Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and the European Social Fund - is designed to boost local employment within the £300m of construction work planned by 2007.

Build Sefton aims to:

Provide support to local building-related firms of all sizes to help them win a higher proportion of construction contracts, for example by operating a tender notification service

Raise awareness amongst developers of the resources and skills available amongst Sefton's contractors and sub-contractors, to prevent them sourcing their requirements outside the area

Spearhead a range of training initiatives to equip local residents with the skills needed to obtain building-related employment, against the background of a chronic skills shortage in the construction industry
